I thought Jimmy killed John's father. I didn't see anything in the film that Sydney killed him. Did I miss something?

Sydney did kill John's father. That's why Jimmy blackmailed Sydney.

I thought Clementine killed John's father. That's why Clementine kidnapped the fat old guy in the motel. Did we even watch the same movie???
