Best region release?

I've never seen this movie, but I'd like to. Obviously renting it is probably impossible, so if I'm going to spend the money to buy it I'd like to get something that looks decent.

I've seen a few different region releases online and I haven't been able to tell which is the best. I understand the Australian (Region 4) release is very good but I don't know if it's better than the Korean release.

Any help is much appreciated!

I don't know of your geographic location, so, like others who may have read this post, may be in the same position as to which region may be recommended.

For PAL format, both the Australian Region 4 release (DVD disc is actually Region 0 - All regions from 1 to 6), released by Madman Entertainment for A$29.95 and the U.K. release, Region 2 released by Momentum Pictures are excellent, although this edition may be out of print now. Both have Japanese audio and English subtitles. Minimal special features including 1 documentary.feature..

I have no idea what NTSC format DVDs are available., so I cannot comment.

As this film is getting on now, having been released in 1997, and not selling in huge numbers, I would recommend taking whatever you can get, subject to format & region code suitability for your geographic location. My UK edition was released back in 2001 and has not been re-issued since.

I have most Takeshi Kitano films and it has taken me a while to accumulate them. Most have been purchased online through eBay.
