why was it called Gummo?

Hmm. I always thought it was referring to all the hairgum that kid uses to make his hair go back like that.

It is named after Gummo Marx, the absent member of the Marx Brothers. Korine is a huge fan of them.

That's what I had heard as well.

Hollywood's middle finger to the suburbs.

Gummo was the family agent! He wasn't absent, his work just wasn't done in front of the camera.
