The "brick" phone Sinbad used was an 80s style (notice he was a retro kind of guy); Blockbuster Video was also around in the 80s and the 00s.

if my memory serves me correctly, That blockbuster he's talking about was there in that exact spot in the 80s

So it could have been looked at as an 80s movie as well
