I've accually seen this movie when it was in theaters and I guess it bombed at the Box Office ( It was playing in the very last theater where it felt like a basment ) Anyways, I've always liked this movie and I know alot of people don't like it or thought it's unfunny but I thought it was a "cute" film. I like Flordia so naturaly I like this movie so I think its a good movie.

Gone Fishin` rocks, seems like it has become quite popular to bash it..
Years since I last saw it, so I decided to check out the IMDB site and I discovered for the first time that JJ Abrams has worked with it :)

people keep bashing this film because its innocent, I agree with the comment on the main page. It's a nice little family film, just because it has no nudity profanity and violence, doesnt mean it's bad. I am not saying it deserved best picture, but if you need something to cheer you up, this is a great movie.

I just watched it, and yeah, I think it's great too. Very funny. And make sure you pay attention to the expressions on Joe and Gus' faces.

Even if the plot wasn't brilliant (or that original), Pesci and Glover, deliver big time, i just love the chemistry between them, it makes the movie, it just has that good vibe feel of the 90's...all in all, great feel good movie

It's funny for all the wrong reasons, kind of in the vein of "Plan 9 from Outer Space." But it is cute and innocent, I'll give it that. But its jokes are all cheesy and extremely predictable.

I've got to disagree. Nobody likes a cheesy comedy like me. i own the Revenge of the Nerds box set! However, i found this film so boring. It was just plain unfunny. I love Pesci and I'm alright with Glover but the film just lacked laughs. It's the kind of thing you want on your tv on a sunday morning when you're not really paying attention. but I wouldn't even buy this for 2 bucks in a discount bin. For example, a straight to video movie, 18 Fingers of Death, which had Steven Segal in it, was still wayyyy funnier than this.

However, there's no such thing as a right or wrong opinion. I didn't like, but that's just me.

Yes. It's a wonderful film, and almost like a cartoon. Why can't folks just appreciate it for what it is....a gentle, cute, slapstick movie.

We like to quote Pesci's line on being poured a wine sample: "I'm not a little kid, you know; I can drink a full glass!"

I think it's a great movie too. It's cheesy, but never takes itself seriously. Glover and Pesci are great together, and so likable it's hard not to enjoy the movie.

Yeah it's lame how people judge this movie like it's supposed to be a masterpiece. It's just a fun movie to watch, I catch it on cable a couple times a year and always watch it. I need to buy it soon.

I can't believe that people are so down on this film. My mother bought this DVD about a year ago, and I've watched it a number of times.

Sure, it's not the greatest film ever, but you know what, that's beside the point. I'd rather watch this than a lot of the rubbish out there these days. I think what I like the most about this film are Gus and Joe the main characters who are lifelong friends and just likeable idiots. I'm sure we'd all like life long friends like these guys to do dumb things with. My 8 year old niece and 6 year old nephew love this film. Put simply Gone Fishin' is good clean harmless fun.

BTW I gave it a rating of 7 out of 10.

funny how all the other threads here are all "this movie sucks", yet they've left this one alone. i guess they just don't have the heart to chime in with their opinions.

oh, and i'm watching it for the first time right now on TBS, and so far it's awful.
