Why a box knife?

Bob was going to kill the store girl with her own box cutter--but why not use the same boot knife he used on all his other victims?

Lane interrupts so Bob takes the next opportunity and kills his friend Shorty... with the boot knife. He probably still had the box cutter in his pocket.
