Biggest Plot hole

I've always been willing to overlook the suicide leap plot hole at the end - but the problem I've always had is once he gets Feingold at the zoo and makes him take him to 'the game,' how would CRS have gotten all the actors together at that moment in the cafeteria? Coincidence? what are the odds that every one of them is there?

reply

To invite them to his birthday party. I bet this is their game of the year...

reply

Well, the most of the movie is a plot hole, there's no way CRS could've really pulled-off all they did in the movie.

reply

howardgrantrulz, that is not a plot hole. Nicholas rang someone close to Feingold (presumably his agent) to ask where he was - the zoo. Therefore that person speaking to Nicholas on the telephone rang CRS to alert the other actors and get them into place.

reply

Exactly, not that hard to figure out.

reply

They showed the birthday invitation up close near the end. Everybody received one. Watch it again.

Also the OP needs to understand what the term 'plot hole' means.

OP isn't talking about the fancy birthday party. He's referring to the workers in the CSR cafeteria.

reply

The cafeteria scene is moments before the rooftop birthday scene.

I know. What's your point? Are you implying the CRS employees got similar fancy birthday invitations that told them to congregate in the cafeteria?

reply

The biggest suspension of disbelief required to accept for this movie to play out is CRS' ability to predict Nicholas' actions. Once you accept that, the rest of the movie plays out accordingly.

reply

No, even bigger suspension of disbelief is required to buy that CRS predicted there would be no fatal accidents in a plan full of high-risk situations. That taxi crashing into the water could have easily gone wrong in many different ways, most of them resulting in Van Orton's permanent cerebral or spinal damage, or even drowning despite the divers being around. Jumping into the trash could have easily resulted in Van Orton splitting his skull on the edge of the container. He would also very likely broke his neck jumping from that skyscraper without the proper form which is important even for jumps from the 3rd floor.

All in all, the accumulated risk was probably equal to jumping out of an airplane without parachute and experience. And yet we (and Van Orton) are supposed to believe it was basically a thrill ride at disney world.

reply

The whole point of The Game is to take Van Orton to the edge... He has stopped living basically just doing what he is suppose to but without any joy or happiness... Which is why Conrad signs him up for The Game... I believe CRS has covered there backs as much as possible with all the tests and the documents that Van Orton signs... This is not suppose to be Disneyland this is suppose to be shock treatment for Van Orton to re-evalueate his life... Of course some of the stunts could have gone wrong it is a movie it is suppose to be entertaining...

But of course if you prefer a version where Conrad literally takes Nicholas to Disney World and then everything becomes great again... then be my guest...
