Guy and Lomper gay?

First of all, I am NOT a troll. I've read on a couple of websites that their was a gay relationship between Guy and Lomper. I did NOT see any indication of this in the film. Where does this assumption come from???? Did anyone get a hint of a gay relationship between these two?

I'm watching the movie right now! One of my favorites, for sure.

If you've only seen the movie on TV, one particular scene may have been cut out, and you may have misunderstood the other that confirms it.

After the fellas are surprised by the cop during their dress rehearsal at the steelworks for Horse's family members, Lomper and Guy run off while the others are caught standing still.

Gaz, Dave, Gerald and Horse are taken to the police station, but Lomper and Guy run away, through backyards, through clotheslines and whatnot, and crawl in the window at (I'm assuming) Lomper's house. After they both get inside, they stand up facing each other for a long moment, and it's strongly implied that they're going to kiss (and likely more).

Then, after Lomper's mum's funeral, Lomper and Guy are holding hands and talking in the background. Dave and Gaz are standing by a car talking and looking at them, and Gaz says, "They bloody are, ya know. They're holdin' hands!"

Dave says, "They never!"

Gaze says, "Straight up!"

Dave says, "I never even held hands with ruddy ladies, me. Maybe I should. Aah, who'd have bloody thought, eh? Ah, well, there's nowt as queer as folk."

And then they laugh, because that saying is a double entendre. Hope that clears it up for ya!

Wow, I totally missed that! Thanks for the explanation.

When I saw the movie in the cinema, there was no "implied" about that part whatsoever...
It was full on, passionate, manly smooching - In the words of my girlfriend who sat next to me: "Aaaooooww!! How Sweeeet!"
For weeks afterward she kept pestering me and our flatmate Andy to tongue kiss in our underwear while she clapped her hands and squealed. Weird girl...

Anyway, it's a little disturbing to me that a simple *kissing* scene was cut out of a movie about an all nude STRIPPER TROUPE just 'cos it involved two dudes... Would anyone who sits down to watch a movie about an all nude STRIPPER TROUPE really be so offended / horrified / sickened by the sight of two hunky men making out, that they need to be protected from seeing it?
From what you say, there seem to be several different versions of the movie, with varying levels of censorship and it really makes me kinda sad... I mean, earlier in the flick, they show a *suicide attempt* don't they? Anybody who thinks that suicide attempts are more disturbing to see than two dudes being dudes *together* , put your hand up. Or... type that you've put your hand up or something...

I'm probably being sarcastic...

That's the power of suggestion for you. No disrespect but you've obviously imagined seeing them snog. That never happened in any edition. In fact what was cut from the original was their intimacy suddenly being broken (before lips made contact) by Lomper's realisation that he couldn't hear his mother in the house. He then leaves the bedroom and looks down the stairs to see his mother dead at the bottom. If you recall we see him in an earlier scene helping to carry her upstairs. This scene was cut from the final edit due to it seeming too dark and halting the comic pace. Believe me, lips never met.

For what it's worth, I just saw the movie on TV on Audience HD and the window scene cuts off as the two guys are looking at each other and maybe move a step closer together but that's as far as it went--no physical contact. Also at the funeral scene I saw Gaz and Dave saying they were holding hands but didn't see them actually holding hands, so there were cuts.

That's funny.

The first time I saw it, which was at the cinema, I would've sworn they kissed as well.

I always thought I'd mis-remembered though.

Also, as Lomper and Guy climb through the window, a table next to it gets knocked over. Lomper says "Shh! My mum!" Guy says "I've always wanted to meet your mother."

I always found this part of the film to be totally ridiculous and unbelievable, even if the intention was to add some sort of human realism to it.

There was no inclination at all that either were gay, and the pair look like such a mis-match of personalities (and looks), so when they have their 'moment' it leaves me scratching my head, and then scratching my head later on when they are holding hands and Guy is playing the supportive boyfriend. I know the makers would say that that's the real world, and it happens, but I'm not convinced; by the persons involved or the manner of them coming out.

There was also no indication they were straight. We don't see every part of every person's life. If one of them had been a woman you never would have questioned the moment. No, you're not a troll, but you're suffering from a heteronormative presumption.
