Scene during ultrasound

This has been my favorite movie since I was a little girl! Love both Perry and Hayek. Sooo I've always speculated over what Alex was trying to tell Isabel during the ultrasound scene. Was he trying to break up with her??

I've seen this movie about a million times and in my opinion there is no way he was going to break up with izzy in this scene. Just the way he is when the nurse puts the scanner on izzys tummy and he asks if it's going to hurt her, u can see he really cares for her here.

My opinion is he was going to apologise for his behaviour and explain the pressure he's under with his job and the unique circumstances he finds himself in with all these new experiences (marriage, baby on the way)

Maybe I'm missing the point but this is my interpretation of these scenes

I feel like he was going to break up with her but then seeing the ultrasound changed his mind. He obviously really cared though.

I don't think that was the intention at all. Maybe he was going to tell her that they weren't ready to have a baby (ask her to have an abortion) and then seeing the ultrasound changed his mind.

I think he was going to tell her that they would have to go to New York earlier then they planned
