I hated Salma's character

What a selfish, irrational bitch.

That's all

Wow! That's an interesting observation. After seeing this excellent movie I was thinking how thoughtful and overall understanding her character is. I even wish my ex-wives were like her, I never would've divorced!!!

You would have to prove to me that she is selfish and irrational. I think Isabel has outstanding integrity character, and is giving and loving. Even at the end, after going through all of the arguments that she could not move to NYC ("My life is here," she said), she said she conceded that they would raise their daughter in New York City.

I'm sorry. But a woman of integrity and character wouldn't lie to her husband about losing their baby, and then run off to Mexico like a coward. I like Isabel. But I have to disagree with you about her being a woman of outstanding integrity and character.

Agree- that was a far worse lie.
Would she have just let him go on believing that his baby died?!?
That's terrible

Isabel is actually very decent. She could have demanded a whole lot of child support from Alex and never did. In fact Alex is very much like her. Marrying her when he had no obligation to do so. The fact that they were so alike is what broke them up, Both were scared of their parents, both had different ideas where to live and raise a child, and both told lies to each other. What is important to note it is Alex's Story ( even more then hers), so he as protagonist, is the one who has to make the steps necessary to win her back. Above all that meant him riding a mule to get to her grandmother's house. You could tell that was something that impressed her, because he proved his love for her with actions rather then just words.
