i didn't think he was as bad as the captain was making him out to be. he was just sick of young black males feeding into the stereotypes that's been set for them.. criminals with no discipline. u gotta be touch.. i harsh on BET and black rappers looking like fools on tv and that somehow makes me an "uncle tom" so i can agree with the talk he had with yance in that closet.
No matter how you act youll always be stereotyped. If i use slang im gangsta if i talk proper im white. If i wear vans im a skateboarder if i wear black im gothic. Live how you want youll always be judged
Of course he had some valid points. I agree that he wasn't THAT bad but he did go too far.
Like the cafeteria scene when he got on Epps character and made them stop eating.
Also treach's character should have been able o handle it when he was saying all of those things. You know at least fake it until he got out of the program. But he didn't and it seemed like Lindo's character knew he wouldn't be able to handle it and just kept getting at him. Even if he thought he was helping him, ultimately I felt he was taking his anger about everyone out on the guys whether he realized it or not.
But he made some solid points.

Calhoun is one of those Grey area type characters. he's open to interpretation. but from my personal POV he wasn't a good person. he was so bitter he became a embittered intra racist that was TRYING to under mine people's rehabilitation because of his chip on his shoulder..the character can definitely be interpreted and dissected in many different ways.
Agreed. A military instructor is supposed to scold the living daylights out of you to get the best out of you. Calhoun was actually unnatural when he scolded Treach's character (that scene just makes me cringe) about how if his kids went to boot camp, he would never let them out.
