From one who ran a bootcamp

Highly underrated. I ran a bootcamp for juveniles and showing this film as a reward to motivated boys would always cause great discussion sessions about going back to where and what they came from, how they might be playin ball here, but how it can all be for nothing, and it WILL be hard, taking the easy way going back to 'bangin' and old friends still doin such things is gonna land them as full time felons...

Great film, great for any kids or young men - or anyone- in trouble, been in trouble, trying to help one in trouble, and the flood related scenese is good for a racial relations discussion for everyone

We would also so this as a group movie in the Juvinile placement I worked at.

How did it end? I thought Greg started drinking and then I had to step away.

Have you seen American Me? About prison in CA with Mex gangs.

Just watched this great movie, I can definitely answer.

He rented a room to commit suicide, but changed his mind at the end. He started looking through the pictures and the letters that the supervisor wrote to him about helping the town during the flood. He walked out of the building and in the next scene, you saw him dressed up (I think he was either going on an interview or looking for more work). And before the credits, this came up:

"Greg Yance never gave up.
After five months of searching, he succeeded in finding a job.
He has worked ever since.

Later this year, Greg will realize his dream when he begins his new job as an inner city youth counselor."

I've always been curious about people who run bootcamps. What kind of leadership style do (did) you have? Were you always angrily yelling at the kids like Calhoun in this film?
