There are so many period romance movies that get passed by and this is one of them. This is one of my favorite movies (the other "Dangerous Beauty"). The passion is overwhelming and breathtaking. I fell in love with Stephen Dillane is this movie, great acting, great chemistry, just a great movie!

Absolutely agree on everything you say. This movie is one of the all time greats, that somehow the critics, either through shortsightedness, pigheadedness, or just plain evil intent, managed to bury! There are those of us though that are actively striving for its revival!!! Come and join us.

This is a real sleeper hit. It is sad that many people will not get to see it because it is a wonderful film with rich characterizations, gorgeous scenery and haunting music. The stars have real chemistry and Sophie is like a rose that blooms as the events unfold.

I saw this movie awhile back just by accident. I revisited it again today. It is so well done and moving and tell a story with minimal dialogue. I too became a huge Stephen Dillane fan with this movie...he is a much over looked actor. I wish he had some more romantic parts in larger movies. Such a beautiful story....a delight to have something in a period piece that doesn't end in a tragedy!
