I somehow prefer this over The Professional

I respect The Professional and realize that it's probably an objectively better Besson film, but I can't help it but to prefer this beautiful masterpiece in all of its cheesy glory. It's really among my favorites, even though I usually don't enjoy these kinds of "blasts from space"

I agree mate. The Professional is class, and I love it, don't get me wrong, but there's something infectious about TFE. I've seen it about 20 times now and love it more and more.

I think in its own way it's a hugely important film too.

I can understand that, this one has a bit more comedy and action in it while The Professional seems more violent than action. They are quite different so I don't know if they are really comparible other than having the same director; i love Dr.Strangelove and only kind of liked Eyes Wide Shut but don't know if its fair to compare the 2 even though they were directed by the same person.

That's understandable. I mean, I've seen this movie many more times myself (blame my younger self, lol). But that being said, I do prefer The Professional in nearly every aspect.

I love them both and have seen them many times. . . .in fact, I'm due for another viewing!
