Michael Palin is hilarious and his talents were wasted in this movie. His character was very one-dimensional, not very funny and had little screen time. He had me cracking up as Ken in A Fish Called Wanda, and he was one of my favourite Python members (second only to Cleese.)
If you like Michael Palin and want to see him in a serious role, try American Friends. Most would probably say it's not a great movie, but I enjoy it. It was available on Netflix..not sure if it's still there. We no longer have Netflix. I found it on Amazon but only in VHS! I got one of the used ones, converted it to digital and now watch it on my tablet. Anyways, it's comfortable to watch.
Did you know Palin based "American Friends" on his own family history? I was just reading about this in his diary. The Oxford don is his great-grandfather, and the Irish/American girl is his great-grandmother.
