Saw the new FP

Horrible!!!! I just saw it and should have gone with my first instinct and not have seen it. They were giving Jimmy(Ben) all these lame jokes to say, trying to make him likeable. They weren't even funny. No offense to Jimmy Fallon, but he is not a very good actor. Not sure why they chose him? No chemistry. The kisses were so awkward. I would not recommend this at all(not like you were going to see it).

I mentioned to the manager of the movie theater that this was a remake and she didn't even know that. I told her to get the original.

Why do they keep remaking UK movies/television shows only to screw it up. I know the same can go in reverse, meaning making hit American movies a remake in another country. Just lately I have been very disappointed: Fever Pitch, The Office, Coupling, and I am sure the upcoming P&P will be another.

But "they" made this just for you Christine!!!! Because you've never heard of the actors in the first one and wouldn't understand the plot!!!!!!!!!!!!
Funny how wrong "they" can be!!!

No offense, but maybe you're a little biased because you're a fan of the first movie. Probably shouldn't compare the two. I haven't seen the new one, but many of the movie critics are giving it good marks.

reply

No not at all. Actually the first one I really did not like as much as some. It was okay. There is no comparison. Totally different movies. Jimmy just really isn't a great actor and it wasn't even funny considering the Farrelly brothers did it.

reply

I'm on the message board for the new one a lot. Jimmy Fallon is actually the big complaint about the new one -- people either love him or hate him.

Fever Pitch 1997.....6.6 stars

Fever Pitch 2005.....6.9 stars

Only time will tell, but it looks like the new one is the more popular.

reply

That was opening weekend. We will see, if it holds. Although, there have been many movies that have stunk and they become blockbusters, so go figure.

reply

of course its going to be more popular in america though because they have changed it from football to a sport they can relate to better :D

reply

it's more popular because it has the flavors of the month, jimmy fallon and drew barrymore, and any 20 something will go to see any of their movies!

reply

I'd hardly call Drew Barrymore a "flavor of the month." she's been acting for more than 20 years, mostly successfully, and now she's a producer. and I like Jimmy Fallon...he's just better on TV. And to the person above who criticized America for remaking British shows, like "Coupling"...well, that was just a rip-off on "Friends." i have no idea why they tried to re-do that, the American version was awful.
I should see the original FP and see how it compares to the US one, from my American point of view.

the scores are;

Fever Pitch (1997) 6.8 stars

Fever Pitch (2005) 6.6 stars

Looks like quality and originality will win in the end!

Originality? It's an adaptation of a book. How is that original?

reply

I wasn't implying that it was an original screenplay, merely that it was the first film, not the remake.
