The First Scene With Robin Williams

"DONT DO IT! NO!!! IT'S NOT WORTH IT ROBIN! THE WORLD WOULD BE EMPTY WITHOUT YOU!" -Me yelling at the screen. That was painful to watch after his death.

A GREAT MAN DIED ON AUGUST 11 2014. REST IN PEACE

I know what you mean. I just watched the movie again last night and thought oh no, how tragic to see him trying to kill himself onscreen. It was sad to see that knowing what happened to him offscreen. I also thought it was interesting how he and Billy Crystal were traveling to Tiburon, CA which is where Robin was living when he died.

He also technically commits suicide in the last of his movies that came out, "The Angriest Man In Brooklyn" Sorry for the spoiler....

That one was harder to watch because its so new he's only a year younger than he was when he died.

Never seen Angriest Man, but I was reading the plot on Wikipedia and it said he tried to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge but Mila Kunis stops him. Is that right? He dies because of the aneurysm? Also, it said his family in the movie cremates him and spread his ashes over the river like Robin's family did at the San Francisco bridge.

It's bizarre how may Robin Williams films feature suicide as a main plot point. If it's not him committing or contemplating suicide it's his wife (What Dreams May Come), it's his son (World's Greatest Dad) or its his student (Dead Poets Society). Other films even feature characters make gags about suicide like 'Good Morning Vietnam' where Forrest Whittaker's character suggests to Robin's that one DJ's broadcasts will make him want to commit suicide.

Not to mention, the scene in Death to Smoochy where he's pours gas on himself and tries to light himself on fire, but the match goes out.

I was thinking the same thing watching the movie just now and came into this message board intending to create a thread just like this. Good to know there are others out there. I'm not sure if its appropriate for me to be mourning this man as I feel inside that I have been, because I didn't know him personally. However he has been a hugely momentous personality in my life for the over 2 decades I have been on this planet, and I feel his loss greatly one way or another. Especially coming from the background of a suicidal parent, I wish his daughter all of the love and peace in the world.

I hate how people think they have to personally know their fellow-man in order to feel for them in one way or another.

Watched this movie Sunday for the first time since 1997. I nearly cried during that scene. Man, I miss Robin Williams.
