let me preface this by saying that i am an american, but i am not a stupid american. i could probably tell the difference between an australian accent and a new zealand accent, let alone an english accent. but i too was confounded by prof. brooks' accent until i realised that the one person i could think of that spoke almost exactly like him (minus the 'gravel') is clive barker. their inflections and intonations are very similar, but clive barker was born and raised in liverpool. i am still perplexed by this....
