For anyone who didn't realize who "Uncle Ray" really was (SPOILERS)

"Uncle Ray" (Walken) was a former CIA assassin who worked for Emily's filthy rich father. The impression is that he was the one who basically raised Emily. Her Dad obviously didn't care about her and therefore didn't have time for her. Uncle Ray was the one who did all the 'fatherly' things with Emily, as seen in the martial arts photo. He was much more of a father to her than her real pops. He wasn't really her uncle but she called him that because he meant far more to her than just her Dad's hireling.

Ray was skilled in his profession as shown by what he did to the redneck in the café. Another good example is that he didn't know Vincent before all the stuff took place. His investigation methods were superior to the police. He found out who owned the warehouse (where Emily's car was destroyed in the fire) by nonchalantly questioning the blonde at the diner. Remember, she gave him a post card that Vincent had sent her from his "vacation cabin," which is where he apprehended the address.
