This movie have alot of potential to be a new Alien franschise with at least a sequel or maybe two sequels...but this one is pure crap...mediocre acting, even from Neill and bad CGI and to many plot holes to make it a good movie...wasnt scary and wasnt gory and wasnt anything but it had the potiental to be everything, this could be a really horrifying mix between alien and hellraiser and work well with a good writer and a better director than worthless Anderson who never done a good movie in his life...overrated hack...and since Hollywood seem to be so horny on remakes these days, this would be a perfect movie to remake as long as you keep blumhouse studios out of it.

Wasnt gory? People fucking, eating each other, cutting pieces of themselves, etc.

New alien franchise? No thanks, the potential here is far beyond anything like that.

Bad cgi, sure, it was 1997.

Sam neill most definitely hammed up that role. He was terrible.

Anderson isnt overrated, everyone knows hes fucking terrible. Hes an american owe boll. Those resident evil movies are an affront not only to their source material but to that art of making movies.

I agree with remaking movies that had good ideas but failed in execution. Why keep remaking classics when theres a wealth of good ideas buried in shit movies? But then again, hollywood is in no rush to gamble on anything that isnt a guaranteed hit.

I want remakes of movies that is shitty like this one or Lost in space, or final countdown or Ronin to name a few and to get better movies instead of what we got...they all have the stories that just needs to be shoeshined alittle and with better CGi, budget and actors and it could become great films instead of alrdy remaking well made movies and make them worse and this could be a kinda new but better Hellraiser/Alien franschie but if its only one movie remake I would be happy about that too.

Great premise, quite a LOT like Disney's Black Hole if you think about it, but ultimately crap (well, mostly).

As for being remade, I'd see that as a low priority (so to speak).

Yep I watched this on Syfy the other night and could not get into the film I watched it because Sam Neill was in this but lost interest so give this a 3 out of 10.

I also expected better because of Sam Neill and Lawrence Fishburne but it wasn't very good.

It's a pretty strong cast -- Neill, Fishburne, Quinlan. I wonder if Event Horizon was the worst movie for each of them.

No, I don't think so. It was a cheap ripoff of Alien, and never had a chance of a sequel. It was dumb, and the characters were all idiots, even more than usual in this type of movie.

I'll be honest I fucking loved this film when it came out but I've got a feeling it will have aged very badly. This said, it's clearly no rip off of Alien.

This is clearly not a ripoff of aliens and much better.

and Dont worry. It did age well. This movie as truly amazing. I just wish they ever take out the director's uncut restored in bluray.

I believe this was remade. It was called Ghost Ship. The only difference is that it was a cruise ship and not a space ship.

Wait....that was a rip off, not a remake. But still, rip off or not, it WAS better, in my opinion..

I think similar films have been made as a tribute.

But to me this was the orginator and the best. A true favorite.
