Weir theory

Weir seems to be affected by the Event Horizon before the rest of the crew is, in fact he already has visions while still in orbit around Earth. Could it be possible that he was 'evil' from the beginning of the film, and went along with the L&C with the intention of taking them back to Hell? Or maybe not 'evil', but possessed on some subconscious level, thinking he was doing it for the science when there really was something deep inside him, directing him in secret for more nefarious purposes? Or could it actually have gone even further back, with Weir being possessed at least a decade earlier, and that's what made him create the gravity drive in the first place? Whatever possessed him may have had him do so to collect human souls, or maybe even conquer our dimension. I'm not too familiar with Christian theology, but wasn't Satan cast into Hell by God (fallen angel and everything)? Maybe he saw this as his chance to escape...

Thoughts, anyone?

I think Weir is simply more predisposed to the ships influences.

His wife is dead, and he doesn't seem to have any strong relationships with other people. He's obviously depressed and his disconnection with others is making him more susceptible to outside influence.

Also, the Event Horizon is his. It's really the only thing he has left that he has a strong emotional attachment to. As a result, he is going to be much more open to connecting with the ship than anyone else would be, hence why I think it is able to get to him much sooner.

Hi !
The ending of Event Horizon is much darker then I remember .
I just cant believe it .This is so awesome mouvie and im glad people still talk about this one .Its a underrated Horror,Sci-Fi,Thriller classic, briliant story and idea.Haters can hate it but I dont care .Im just only sad that a lot people are blind and dont know what is good deep scifi-horror-thriller mouvie.
I will share this comment this guy wrote on Reddit forum for Event Horizon.I search post of ending because i first watched mouvie as a kid and i like it ,but i didnt quite understand black hole and etc.theories u know ...so i was searching for some good
sci fi mouvie and i found this ,and i was likeee " hey I remember this one i will watch it again now with 27 years"! And I say after only words wooow "damn what a mouvie".But ending though.. i was like i didnt remember it was like this, maan .Then i find this post from Reddit posted by guy u/bestbiff and he say:
SPOILERS:
"I've watched this movie quite a bit back in the day as a kid when it premiered on cable. Spooky stuff. Miller blows up the corridor connecting the ship to the life boat to save the remaining crew before the dimension opens. But for whatever reason I just assumed he killed himself in the blast (I guess because his intention all along was to destroy the ship with missiles). Finally just realized the explosion only separated the lifeboat while the rest of the ship travels through the wormhole. Miller didn't just sacrifice himself. He went to Hell...Man." NO SPOILERS FURTHER DOWN.
This is so fuc*ed up ending ..senting himself to hell and who knowes what he will see and live and die in horrible way ,or just live there who knowes maan.
I wish they make "Event Horizon 2" with Lawrence again coming back but just in minds of investigators or something like that but i dont think they will make .
Now to get back what you ask.Good guessing about that Wier was bulding that machine maybe he make so ship can travel to hell .But in some moments Wier looks normal idk. Why he would make a ship that can travel to some sick dimensions .Maybe he wanted to rule like you said .I never thought on that one ,good thinking. He only had that ship so he wants to be with him like we saw in that mouvie.
You think that he wanted to return that ship to Earth and then open a gateway and suck everything ,rule in that way ? Good guessing .Idk.what others can sat about it ,but good thinking .
