Matthew Perry....

Has anyone noticed near the end of the film when Matthew Perry is fighting the Frenchman he goes from healthy looking to near death looking? Its like he lost a ton of weight during filming. Was it due to his drug/alcohol problems during the time?

reply

Probably. He's had a lot of really weird weight fluctuatons during his career because of his addiction to pain killers.

I read an article somewhere saying that he was extremely exhausted while filming this movie and Friends at the same time. This(and possibly drugs) caused him to lose a lot of weight.

Yes, those cursed "painkillers" really appeared to take their toll on Matthew's appearance in this film. He looks almost skeletal in the last scenes.

And Chris Farley is his largest here. It's very sad that this was his last major film.

I was at a cast/crew party during the filming of Almost Heros. My friends and I gave Matthew a hug. He was bone thin and smoking like a chimney. He was shy but very nice to all of us. Chris Farley was trashed but very funny. He stepped on my foot when he walked by doing his Chris-Farley-SNL thing, he apologized and I just laughed it off. He was really funny to watch, sort of like having a live SNL skit in front of you. And yes, Chris was huge by this time. I waited forever for this movie to come out but when I finally saw it I was a little disappointed but enjoyed seeing the area where I grew up appear in some of the scenes.

It's good to hear that even when they were off-camera, Chris and Matthew were still nice guys. Yes, the movie was a bit of a disappointment, but you grew up in a beautiful area! Thanks for your recollections.
