Hello, I'm not french but I watched the movie in french.
Could someone try and explain how does the joke work when Pierre tells the nomme de plume of her wife and the reply is something like "ah elle etait bretonne ?"

Hello,
Pierre says her name is Christine LeGuerrec, which is a typical "breton" name. The thing is that in their situation, the fact that she is bretonne or not is totally irrelevant. :-)
