Good movie/story, bad ending. *SPOILERS*
I don't remember seeing "based on a true story" anywhere in the opening or ending credits, but if it is based on a true story, that's one thing.
Personally, I was expecting to find out she was pushed purposely...not accidentally fell!
But, regardless of whether it was true or not, whether she was pushed or fell accidentally, I think they could have done a little more at the end to explain everything. It was an hour and 50 minutes of torturing, especially after Swank and Gosslear started finding things out, and then 10 minutes of people fessing up. It didn't give all the closure that I was looking for:
(1) I heard something about someone being paid off, but who was paid, who paid it, and what for? (Was it that girl who Swank claimed to be with her in the clock tower at the end? Why would they bother paying her off? Was she the only one? I wouldn't think so, considering how great everyone thought the sorority was).
(2) The newspaper editor fired Gosslear when he started getting further into the story, and that seemed out of nowhere...did the "upper editors" know it was all going on or were they all in just as much denial as Swank's mom?
(3) The guys in the van who attacked Gosslear and Swank, I don't remember getting a good look at the faces...were they just guys from a fraternity who were fond of the girls in the house? Why would they be willing to put themselves at risk for these snaughty girls who they'd probably never getting anything out of?
(4) Everybody's sheer denial. Were all the parents and faculty really that foolish to not see anything wrong, or were they just denying it to try and keep the reputation of the school good?
