Why Daisy Why?

Why would the writers have Daisy not marry Enos? That makes her seem like she's teased Enos all this time and broke his heart. She is not a veryu nice person in the end, and I don't know why the writers want us to go away woith that feeling instead of going away happy.
Any ideas???
