? about Daisy and Enos

I only got to watch part of this movie didnt get to catch the end. i know Daisy and Enos were supposed to get married at the end.......Did they? And if they did why in the movie Hazzard goes to Hollywood why were they not still married? I didnt seem to get any kind of explanation for that. Am I just missing something?

reply

Nope. At the end, she ends up not marrying him, which pissed me off.

I can't even remember the exact end, it was really weird. It just got me ticked off.

I Just saw the movie---At the end, Daisy's EX comes to Hazzard--He's Lost his way--Daisy sees him and faints. Then decides she CAN'T marry Enos because she had had a bad marriage, and didnt want to go through it again.

reply

It pissed me off, that they did not get married. they would make a great couple

Daisy might be ready in the next reunion movie, if there is one. To keep up the theme of a cast member dying before a new reunion movie is made, they might wait until Rosco/James Best dies. I figure Cletus will be the new Boss (because that's what Boss Hogg would've wanted) and Enos will be the Sheriff.

reply

I think she kinda dissed Enos pretty bad to come that far and get cold feet. Enos really looked bummed out. She always did play hard to get.

reply

I dunno--if Best(Roscoe) ended up dying and they wanted to replace him, I would think Hughie Hogg would be a more suitable replacement seeing as he was more brilliant and even more evil than Boss Hogg ever was.

As reunion shows go this definitly was one of the better ones. However, I thought they kind of ruined it by not having Enos and Daisy get married. I think that would have been the perfect end to the Dukes mythos. Ok, so there was still "Dukes in Hollywood" yet to come so it really wouldn't have been the end of the mythos right? Well since "Duke In Hollywood" was pretty forgetable it should never have been made and the sory should have ended with the Reunion.

Even though Daisy wasn't ready to marry again at the end to the Reunion we are left with the impression that Enos and Daisy will continue seeing each other and that there is hope for a wedding in the future. One of the most diapointing aspects of DiH was that they didn't even breach the subject of Enos and Daisey.

reply

I completely agree with you Norman, Daisy and Enos getting married would have been the perfect end. I didn't like DiH very much either. I thought it was just kind of weird. However I really liked the first reunion, except for the end.

Both "Reunion" and "Hollywood" though not up to par with the series were much better than the two more recent "remakes" though. What I really hated about the remakes was that the original "Dukes Of Hazzard" had former criminals (the Duke Boys) turning their lives around and trying to live morally--and Uncle Jesse was a moral character as well.

But in the remakes Jesse is an immoral drug-addict, and the movie has a ton of heavy sexual innuendo and toilet humor whereas the original show was a perfect family show.

Very True. Thet's why Jimmy "Roscoe" Best and Ben "Cooter" Jones both pubiclly spoke out agianst the remake and encouaged a boycott. They felt that it went agaist the family friendly theme of the origional show.

reply

Exactly. Any of the so-called "sexual innuendo" that was in the show--things like the word "virgin" was over kids heads. and the whores were never referred to as whores nor were they ever shown doing anything that was out of line. The supposed "sexual innuendo" in the show was even harmless for that time and handled very tastefully to boot.

Not so in the new movie. A remake would have been fine but it should have been kept true to it's family-friendly nature--Oh and with good casting too--I mean really--Burt Reynolds as Boss Hogg?

I hated the re-make. I was NOT impressed with how they got Jessica Simpson to play Daisy and Burt Reynolds as Boss Hogg, whom they should have cast Danny DeVito for.

reply

I think Simpson could have made a pretty decent Daisy if she had died her hair brown and played a more traditional Daisy (that is a hot chick with values as opposed to and indiffernt hoe-bag). Then again all the characters should have been played more traditionally. However, by no stretch of the imagination could Burt Renolds ever be believable as Boss Hogg. What were the thinking. Yes, DeVito would be a great choise assuming that he can do a southern accent.
