Info on the original novels?

Has anyone read the original Joel Houssin Dobermann novels? From what I can find out online, they were published in France in the early '80s and are described as "pulp crime" tales. Unfortunately they've never been translated into English. I'd love to know if they are as OTT as this Dobermann film (which Houssin also wrote, though I saw somewhere that the film is an original story, and not an adaptation of a previous Dobermann novel).
