"I'm convinced that that is what caused mommy's stroke"

Yvonne, the only daughter that actually became a doctor, said that Jeanette moving out of the house caused their mother to have a stroke. Okay, so your mother had a stroke because her adult, college aged daughter decided to move out of the house...not to drop out of school and live on the streets, sleeping with different men for drugs, mind you. She moved out so that she could make her own decisions about what college courses to take without needing her overbearing, tyrant of a father's approval and that gave her mother a stroke?  Really? The overbearing, unreasonable, angry, tyrannical husband didn't do it, it was the college student, who decided to leave home because she'd rather be a psychology major, instead of pre-med.

Thank you. You said that better than I could have.

There sure was a lot of despicable behavior in this film. I was gonna say I'm glad that's not my family. Unfortunately, there were many similarities.

I agree!

The father was a bully and lucky that all his daughters didn't walk out on him for good.
