Brian+ Stewie Griffin= Dogbert.

Think about it...both Stewie and Dogbert and megalomaniacs and both Dogbert and Brian can talk. To me, Family Guy kind of ripped off Dilbert in that way....

Family Guy never made anything original. They are just rip-offs from other shows repackaged in a poorly written TV episode. No plot, no character personalities, just random, stupid rip-off jokes.

You can tell a lot about people by knowing what TV shows they like. I know a lot about you now.

You can tell alot about people by the kind of stupid-@$$ comments they make on message boards. I now know alot about you.

(By the way, yest I know that I have now "lowered myself to your level," but I'm ok with that, because irony rocks.)

Learn to spell and then I might take your insults seriously.

He misspelled "alot" (a lot) which is a common error since High Schools in Canada fail to correct this spelling constantly. Everything else looked like typos to me.

MY verdict: Family guy was funny for 3 or 4 seasons. (Barely 4 - it is REALLY hit and miss now) Dilbert was an enjoyable whim this past month (got the DVD's), I am sad they never made more. If I were stuck on a desert island with only one TV Show, it would be South Park.

There, now you know lots about me.

Leave Family Guy alone. Season's 1-3 were the best thing ever. As for the ripping off thing, some people call those parodies.

Also, lighten up on the misspelling thing. He accidentally hit 't', who cares?

*Yawn* Yet another bunch of people whining about how Family Guy isn't "original." Of course, in any cartoon made after, um, another cartoon, you're going to find similarities in much the same way that you can compare today's comedians to yesterday's. Your similarities are wonderful theories, but I can't help but dissect them, considering that, other than these theories, the two shows were like night and day (and I loved them both):

A. If anything, Stewie resembles The Brain from Pinky and the Brain more than Dogbert. The Brain was a "megalomaniac" so overzealous and overconfident that it interfered with his ability to fulfill even the simplest tasks. Dogbert was the complete opposite--not only was he not a bumbling idiot, he had darn-near flawless excution of every he wanted to accomplish (e.g. convincing people to buy a self-help book he just wrote on a crisis that mysteriously just happened). All in all, Dogbert did not want to "take over the world," and he did want to help people... just do it by making millions in the process by playing on people's stupidity.
Verdict: weak similarity.

B. Dogbert and Brian can talk--wow. Ever heard of Scooby-Doo, Scrappy-Doo, Astro, Clifford?
Verdict: slightly-less-weak similarity.

Different people, different taste in humor. The non sequiter gags of Family Guy are sometimes grin worthy to me, but the involved satire of Dilbert draws outright laughter. I find that having to think about a joke makes it more amusing to me.

Pinky and the brain? Are you serious, that cartoon was made for the ages of 4-10.
