Pooja's 'dumb' friend.

I personally enjoyed this movie very much. It was one of the good romantic musicals from Yash Raj Films. The music was fantastic.

But I can never get over how dumb Pooja's friend was (I don't remember her name). She was the one who used to practice dancing with her. When Pooja tells her that she is buying stuff for Valentine's Day, her friend naively asks, "What is this Valentine's Day?". Seriously? She is a modern day, city girl who must be 25-30 years old and she has NEVER heard of Valentine's Day? I just find that ridiculous. The story-writers really goofed up with that scene. If she had been a village belle, then it would have been understandable but since she is not, it just seems silly for her character to be so ignorant.

I think it's supposed to be more of an exposition scene - this allows MD to explain to the audience what Valentine's Day is. Back in 1997 it's not unreasonable to assume that there were certain sections of the Indian population that were not aware of Valentine's Day.
