I guess a lot of know-it-all, disrespectful and ungrateful 10-year-olds out there befriend grown-up mentally handicapped people

The way Harriet treated Gwen for trying to keep her and Ricky apart was disgusting. She was ungrateful and didn't even realize until later how lucky she was to still have Gwen after Mrs. Frankovitz died but Gwen didn't have to scream for Harriet to get out of her sight when they slapped each other after she feigned ignorance to Ricky's whereabouts and Gwen was wrong not to let Harriet be friends with Ricky but Harriet didn't have to take Gwen for granted because of it.

So you think Harriet was fueled by unbridald enthousiasm, which ultamatly lead to her untimely downfall, and because of this rather "canned rage" as you put it, she was left burning the bridges and harbouring an almost entitled resentment?

Actually, what I was saying was when Gwen had forbidden Harriet to be friends with Ricky and was wrong to forbid it, Harriet was very disobedient. Why are some children rude and disrespectful to their families just because they had forbidden them to be friends with grown up mentally handicapped people when they were wrong to forbid it?

That’s what I was saying too

Harriet had fun with Ricky and was hateful to Gwen for trying to them apart. Here's an example, in the part where Harriet feigned ignorance to Ricky's whereabouts, she acted very hostile to Gwen.
