Originally that was when it was to be released. But they waited a year, and changed the beginning and ending to have them laying the flowers outside the palace.
shareI'm surprised that it was considered bad timing. Admittedly it would have been insensitive to release it at the same time as her death. But the movie industry (or book, or any other industry) has never been particularly worried about sensitivity. If it had been released othe original schedule, just memorial effect would mean a thousand times more people watching it than the 115 that voted on imdb.
