A prime example of post-horror?
Though back then they didn't have a name for this sub-genre, could this movie fit that description? I mean, it is first and foremost a social commentary, with horror thrills coming as secondary.

shareI suppose it could fit the genre. A lot of post-horror is very psychological rather than gory and TDA is kind of like this.
I also like to call Interview With The Vampire as kind of like early post-horror. Not much gore in this one either but heavy on theme and drama/suspense. Its kind of like if Shakespeare did a horror story.
This would normally get labeled as a "supernatural thriller".
