If a client lies to his client, the lawyer can claim a conflict of interest since he can't be sure of the testimony he's presenting.

But by choosing to defend him, Kevin would be going down the same path as before. There was no way he was going to defend his client after what he went through. It was a personal matter, he knew the guy was guilty.

So, even if it was completely fine for him to just go on and do his job, he couldn't.

Everyone is entitled to a defense, true. But a lawyer is not required to defend someone if he thinks the person is guilty and the lawyer feels that he cannot provide the best defense. No law says that a lawyer MUST take your case if he doesn't want to.

Kevin essentially traveled back in time with the future knowledge that Gettys is not only guilty of molesting the girl on the stand, but also that he would later go on to murder an 8 year old girl and hide her corpse in his trunk. Kevin knew Gettys was guilty and knew he needed to be punished.

What, if they even existed, would characters of Al Pacino's "John Milton" Satan, deserve THEN, a slow trip to hell?
