Why not transport all dangerous convicts knocked out?

Wouldn't it be a sensible idea to anaesthetise all violent criminals before transporting them anywhere? And to Hell with their civil rights. Certainly it wouldn't suit Hollywood and the classic Con-Air wouldn't have been made. But in the real world it would save a lot of money.

Ca' canny now.

Well I don't know how much money it would save. Anesthesia is in inexact science and you need a professional to do it right. So you would have to hire an anesthesiologist ever time you want to move someone. Even then, mistakes happen and it would probably be a serious lawsuit when one of them died. Being that mistakes are somewhat of a rarity I don't know if it makes economic sense.

Well, I hope most people wouldn't say to hell with their civil rights, but nothing I say will change your mind based on the way you wrote that. Aside from that, if yu are knocking them completely out, they would need to be on a ventilator to keep breathing. Also everytime you go under any anesthesia, there is a risk of death and it does happen sometimes. It's not something a regular nurse or paramedic can do, you need an anesthesiologist or at least a nurse anesthetist. Plus, they need to have things to keep them knocked out. Violating rights is my biggest issue with it, but since you've decided you deserves rights and who doesn't, aside from that it is completely impractical. Where would you be getting all this extra manpower and the money to finance this in an already overwhelmed system?
