What type of weapons were they using? Looked like some type of handheld gattling gun, had rotating barrels, never seemed to run out of ammo.

It's a fantasy weapon. It doesn't truly exsist.

They also used them in the Rutger Hauer movie "Split Second". I think they were described as an "automatic rotary shotgun" in that. RH's character uses one towards the end of the film

Nah, the ones in Split Second are much bigger weapons.

The "Chinese m1l1 triple pulse-rifle", is a fictional firearm. In fact it is a mocked up Calico M955A sub machine gun.
