Anyone else love this film?

Am I the only one who absolutely adores this film? It's fantastic! Miranda is perfect in it, as is George del Hoya. A little masterpiece!

a miracle! someone else knows and loves this film as much as I do!!!
The only draw-back is that this film ALWAYS makes me SO sad!

reply

Omg! *squeals* Another fan! Yay! *calms down* It is really quite sad isn't it? My favourite scene though, best kiss in cinema history IMO LOL, the bit where Alice is sat outside the dance, and Frank comes at her and tells her everything about his family and shouts at her, and then she cries...and then *bang* best kiss ever! *sigh* I've only seen it recently because I'm a Miranda Otto fan...she's great in it, don't you think?

reply

Absolutely!!! And you are SO RIGHT! That kiss... *melt* Corvus, GET A GRIP! But it is fabulous, really.
Have you seen "The Girl Who Came Late"? It's with Miranda Otto as well. Bit weird, but I love it. But then I like horses.... She's great in that one, too.

Do you get the bit with the homing pigeon? The least thing he could have done is tell that guy who has always taken care of that pigeon that he has got him now...

reply

Hmm, I didn't quite understand that either. There was homing pigeon which was a bit weird, and Alice's boyfriend - I felt sorry for him in a way you know when she's reading the letter and she asks him something like 'Has anything really sad ever happened to you?" and he says something stupid, and she says 'Wrong answer' and he says 'Ask me again' and she doesn't say anything, and the look on his face is so sad!!

I haven't seen 'The Girl Who Came Late'...I really want to see Miranda's other works, but they're so rare to find around here!

Yes My Girlfriend Is another adorer of this film! and does anybody know how i could get hold of a copy? i live in the U.K, and if anybody could sort me out... it would make the best gift...

reply

It is available on DVD through Ebay, I have just bought a copy from Australia. You will need a multiregion DVD player, or see if your PC will play it - mine does.

Good Luck, Keith

I love this little film. I think the miracle is thereΒ΄s a film in this times with a great idea. I like plot, i really love miranda. Sadly, i've seen in Valencia(Spain) film festival, and we were only four people in the cinema. This film should become a classic!

It's been shown on British TV a few times now and I managed to tape it recently. It frustrates me so much that gorgeous films like this don't get the opportunites that big Hollywood blockbusters do. It is beautifully written and acted and the film has a true heart and soul. Another favourite film of mine, along similar lines, is "Dear Frankie". If you get the chance do check it out. You won't be disappointed.

Oh and, yes, the two kissing scenes in DLO were just sublime. I'd have given anything to be in Miranda Otto's shoes!

Baby please, I am not from Havana!

I loved the film, but it's the Nichola Bell character of Kevin, that's by far and away my favorite.
