Michael Ende's 'MOMO'

Is anyone familiar with the book "Momo" by Michael Ende (of NeverEnding Story fame) or the 1986 TV movie made of it?

In that book, a town is held under the control of mysterious "gray people" who have control over time. I couldn't help but notice the similarities in this movie, even though they have very different plots overall.

If you call me insane again, I'll eat your other eye.

No.

But having watched DC for the first time last night, I couldn't stop thinking of the Observers from the television show Fringe. That show had a different story, but the Observers were the same: bald, black suit, black hat, etc.

Absolutely! First thing I thought when I saw DC last night.

It's an old thread but I think nobody will be bothered if I say: Yes, absolutely, the similarities are definitely there. I read the book multiple times as a child and even imagined the "grey men"'s part of town to look pretty similar to how the town in this film looked, only tidier and more surreal.

Momo without Momo. Another one suggested on this board similarities to Michael Ende's "Das Gefängnis der Freiheit", after watching this movie "Die unendliche Geschichte" came to my mind too, with its major themes creating and forgetting, reality and lostness.

Dark city seems to be a hybrid of Michael Ende's work. Maybe the best existing movie adaption of his work :P
