Would you have perfered THIS TWIST?

He punches through the wall and it's present day.

I dont think so, personally. I wouldve struggled to understand how the Strangers couldve kept their experiment going without detection if it were all happening under our noses on Earth.

reply

It's called Area 51. Okay that wouldn't work, but maybe they can actually create a new dimension within an area or something along those lines.

reply

Maybe, but in terms of plausability, does that improve upon the films actual version? IMO, no.

reply

Yeah ditto that. The ending was fine bit it was all the rest that makes DC so great imho.

reply

Sounds like something out of an M. Night Shyteamalan movie.

reply

Yup, it would be his idea.

reply

No knocking down the wall revealing space was mind blowing

reply

Nah, worse, this twist would be too much like a clone of The Truman Show.

reply

What would have been cool maybe was if that was only half of the Twist. What if it was not only revealed that the entire Dark City was in a huge warehouse, but that it was Humans doing research on the Aliens!
It turned out that a bunch of humans volunteered to temporarily have their memory backed up and let these aliens use their unknown technology to find a cure for their (human fabricated) illness , thus letting human scientists learn about this hive-minded alien race and their tuning/ matter changing technology

reply

The scene with the wall already reminded me a lot of the scene where the boat reaches the "horizon" in the Truman Show, where he basically finds an exit to the real world, so it was good that there was a different twist here. It's been done elsewhere too, e.g. M. Night Shyamalan's The Village

Dark City came out before both of those movies.
