The sensible thing to due would be to take off Grandma's clothes

I know, if I were Pierce Brosnan that's the last thing I would want to do. But generally, if someone has acid seeping into their clothes and is burning their skin, the first thing you would want to do is immediately remove the burning clothes.

See you in hell, candy boys!

Depends on how close she was to dying after the initial burns. If she is pretty much a goner, stripping Granny naked in front of her sobbing grandchildren is probably not going to help much. They still have to stay composed enough to navigate cars through lava flows and contact NASA after that scene.

What good would it do to remove her clothes? The acid didn't splash on her, she was saturated with it. If it was a splash, yes, remove the affected article(s) of clothing that are wet with it and conveying it to her skin.
