Saw the movie last night and really enjoyed it. However, in some parts of the film I couldn't help but notice that the actors' voices were dubbed in Spanish. If they weren't speaking Spanish to begin with (as I assumed), what language were they talking in these scenes, and why was in dubbed?

shareI think it was very clever to have native Spanish and Portuguese actors speaking in English, but I think the film could have been 15 minutes or so shorter if they weren't so precise in their pronunciation. Every "th" was pronounced "th." I found myself wondering where Juan-Diego Botto, an Argentinian actor, got his very good American accent.. Hearing Quechua spoken was very interesting, as well as hearing them pronounce it "ke-kha"--I'd always thought of it as "kwetch-wa". Live and learn. Overall, though, I think this movie should be remade in the languages of the actors with English subtitles.
shareRegarding Juan Diego Botto's English: He lived in New York City and studied acting there. I would assume that ie where and how he perfected his English.
