The early scene at the police inspection station on the highway was clearly shot in Peru. The giant peak in the background, jutting out of a barren landscape, is the extinct volcano Huascaran, Peru's highest summit. Nothing remotely resembling it exists in Spain, Portugal or Ecuador -- or anywhere else except Tibet or Xinjiang.
