Or did it have a brief theatrical run? I never heard of it.

Had to say but I saw it earlier on Satellite TV. The film was released during the years that In the Army Now and Jury Duty were in theatres. I'm guessing this was a TV film but I'm not sure. What's amazing is how Pauly Shore is playing it straight and not like he usually is in his other comedies.

played ever so briefly in a theater in la and a theater in ny in '96 or '97 can't remember which....certainly never got wide release... then it went straight to the movie channel not too long after that.

It was a cable movie. No theatrical release.
