I Found it a Bit Depressing

This film was pretty good, but I found it to be depressing. I felt so bad for Emily and Reese. Emily, because of her situation with her mother, and Reese, because of her alcoholism and the fact that she was more needy than her daughter. I also thought that it would be a bit better too. I thought ( & was hoping) that Reese would be able to go through some treatment and overcome her dependence on alcohol and that she would be able to get a job singing. I was also hoping that Emily could go to the honors program and get a scholarship and a job for college. I was so sad when Reese killed herself. I knew that she was going to attempt to commit suicide when she started filling the bathtub, but I was again hoping that someone would be able to get to her in time. ( Sadly I was wrong) Her death sort of ruined the whole film for me. She was a major character & then with a half an hour left in the film, she's dead. I wanted her to beat the addiction and turn her life around. I also felt so bad for Emily because not only did she lose the only parental figure she has known, but she now has to hold up the fort and find a way to get to college herself. I was kind of hoping for a " things turn around" film, but this is not one. I know that life isn't like that, but the suicide totally killed the movie. It is still pretty good, I just think that it could have been a lot better.
