Count Wenceslas Steinbach

The actress refuses to run away with him & opens the door for him to leave, his wife is in the hallway holding a pistol & shoots him -The wife looks very startled that she's done it so I'm not sure if she really intended to shoot him, the mistress or anyone intentionally

Wenceslas was accidentally shot by his wife, Hortense. She had come to shoot Jenny Cadine instead, but Steinbach stepped in the doorway to leave after Jenny threw him out refusing to run away to the country with him. Hortense was set up by Bette who urged her to act stating, "there is only one way to get a tigress to drop her meat." Hortense is later arrested for his murder as she, Bette, and Jenny Cadine stand in the morgue over Steinbach's body.
