Date

The caption at the beginning says "1583". What's up with that? By 1583, Veronica Franco was in her late 30s and had been a courtesan for many years. The attack on Cyprus took place in 1570, and Venice abandoned the island altogether in 1573. The witchcraft charges, the dramatic climax of the film, were brought in 1577. Why change the date? What purpose does it serve?

does it matter? I think not.
Oh, not one mention in moviemistakes.com ?
my only suggestion of error is when Maffio swings the sword... the book wouldn't cut like that, unless it was made of polystyrene, which hadn't been invented then!
