Living in an Airplane?

Ellie's benefactor (before moving to MIR), supposedly lived in an airplane that rarely landed. I'm sure that the plane could gas up in flight, but the idea of a plane just flying around for weeks or months seems ridiculous.

Did anyone read the book, and if so, can you explain this better?

Oh what a falling off was there.

If I recall correctly, that wasn't in the book. But Hadden's final lifestyle in the book is even stranger.

Fowler's knots? Did you say ... fowler's knots?

While it is possible to refuel mid-air, there would still be a need to land for other reasons. Supplies, food, water, waste dumps, general maintenance and repairs. I think that maybe they meant that other than the reasons listed above that "he hardly lands for anyone", not that he hardly lands.

Live in an airplane? Why not?

Laugh while you can, Monkey Boy!

The guard at the plane plane says he rarely lands for anyone. I take that as he rarely lands because of or to meet another person. Don't think too hard into it
