Oscar snub?

Surprised by its lack of oscars tbh. Foster nomination especially. Best picture nom? The special FX, for Petes sake. Screenplay? Strange.

Those were the years when Oscar categories actually made sense. None of the "Best Actor, male" and "Best Actor, female" crap. People were properly awarded with "Best Actor" and "Best Actress" awards.

And none of the International movies winning in International category and Best Picture category.

I looked up the Oscars https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/70th_Academy_Awards and yeah, it was a joke.

I mean for Visual effects Titanic won over Lost World: Jurassic Park and Starship Troopers.

Hollywood is stupid and racist and biased as usual. Giving wrong awards like Oscar to Denzel for Training Day over Russell Crowe, Roberto Benigni over Tom Hanks, Heath Ledger because he OD'd and died etc.

What are you talking about? Titanic winning for visual effects was totally deserved.

reply

Yeah, Lost World had the same special effects as Jurassic Park and Starship Troopers was just cheesy. Titanic was actually top notch!

reply

Foster was terrible. The film was terrible. The effects were good.

reply

I thought the film was pretty mediocre. If you want good sci-fi see 2001: Space Odyssey, the original Star Wars, and Logan's Run. This one wasn't quite as bad as that Amy Adams one though.

lol Arrival was great but you seem immature to get it.

reply

i thought the concept of those aliens that communicate with smoke circles was interesting, but the whole script around it was ridiculous.

reply

It's a fine film but it's not an Oscar level film. Not even close.

reply

This is a B-level film. Maybe B+ max. Good movie, but not legendarily good.

Not Oscar level.
