I kept looking at her and thinking she is totally out of place in this role. She is so effing hot, there is no way someone that looks like her works in a grocery store, hooks up with a hoodlum and lives in the barrio. She's 5 miles from Hollywood and no one has gotten her into a modeling job yet? Now come on!

I'll agree with you and say that there is some correlation between looks and social class or whatever you want to call it (I'd bet most of it has to do with diet and self-esteem), but we can't all be doctors and lawyers.

I have to agree she is totally wrong for this. Nice Danish girls do not live in East LA. Too bad they couldn't have given a break to a Latina actress. But who can blame a director if Famke said she wanted to be in your film? Hard to turn down I would imagine.

She didn't need to speak Spanish just because she was married to a Hispanic guy. She was a white girl from East L.A. they do have those there, I'm born and raised in L.A. and there are many pretty girls and some are on the wrong side of the tracks.

She was good in the movie and not really miscast. Yes, there are very few (if any) grocery check out girls that look like Famke Janssen, but it's a movie...

if you listened carefully to the dialogue, she and javier grew up as kids in the fields picking fruit, etc, I lived in bakersfield and there were many beautiful girls who came from this kind of background. javier's family were migrant mexicans and her family were california okies. not that hard to figure out.

SHE IS MISCAST IN EVERYTHING AND SHE IS 7 feet tall! UGH!
she did a fantastic job with her character -- and very impressive from the very start of the movie.
