Why did ali's father weep in the mosque?

In the scene where Ali's father is preparing tea to be served in the mosque, he is shown to be weeping? I didn't really understand why... anybody knows?

reply

I took it as him being moved by the music and prayer all around him and reflecting on his own troubles.

Under new management!

reply

hi man

this is not because the music as the other one said ,even this was not a mosque , this place is called "husainiah" . it is a special place for Shiah Muslims where they do some rituals and spiritualistic things, and they cry for it. the sounds is not music it is some one who read these spiritualistic things with a sad voice. Sunna dont do that, only Shiah do it.

Thank you so much for sharing this info with us! Does the sadness have to do with the martydom of Husayn?

reply

You are right. Ali's father is crying on the mention of Husayn's (the grandson son of the Prophet, Martyred by Yazid) name.

reply

The man who gave Ali the sugar mentioned something about "preparing it for he Mourning" (not his exact words.) Is this a particular event or part of normal worship?

reply

i think the neighbor is dead. they were wearing black
